KARE11's Sven Sungaard Let Go for Continued Ethics Violations

Updated: Jul 1

"Due to continued violations of KARE11's news ethics and other policies, we have made the decision to part ways with Sven Sungaard."

Twin Cities, MN - KARE11's phone lines were flooded with calls after local activists collectively posted a call to action on social media using the hastag#FireSven. Ben Dorr, Marni Hockenberg & Minnesota Gun Rights lead those efforts.

The call to action was in response to comments posted on former KARE11 meteorologist Sven Sungaard's Facebook page. On April 19th, 2 days after the#LiberateMinnesotarally in St. Paul, Sungaard re-posted the following comments from a local Rabbi on his own Facebook page, "I understand that the press has an obligation to cover the rallies at state capitols by the 'liberate the state' white nationalist Nazi sympathizer gun fetishist miscreants. We must pay attention to armed extremists."

May 1st, KARE11 posted the following statement on their Facebook account "Due to continued violations of KARE11's news ethics and other policies, we have made the decision to part ways with Sven Sungaard. We hope you continue to turn to KARE11 for your news, traffic, weather and more."
