CHOP Vacated by Protesters After Mayor Issues Emergency Order

Seattle Police dismantle the Capitol Hill Organized Protest (aka CHOP) after the mayor orders occupants to leave.

Seattle, WA - Mayor Jenny Durkan issued an emergency order this morning directing protesters to leave the Capitol Hill Organized Protest zone aka #CHOP aka #CHAZ due to ongoing violence and public safety issues. Officers in riot gear moved in and issued a dispersal order over a loudspeaker at 5:00am. Seattle Police now have control of the area.

Seattle Police issued a statement on social media, “As of 9:25 AM, officers have made a total of 31 arrests for failure to disperse, obstruction, assault, and unlawful weapon possession. Police continue to provide perimeter security for city crews offering services and performing environmental cleanup.”
